WE LOVED going to Utah this Christmas. We drove and it really wasn't all that bad. We watched movies, played the ipad, listened to Harry Potter and Percy Jackson books, and vroomed the way to grandma's house!!! We got into one storm which was kind of scary right at the first, but after that, it was GREAT!
We started out on a VERY cold morning that threatened snow. It was o.k. in Ohio, but Indiana was HORRIBLE!!! I was very scared as we saw car after car off the road. Semi's were jack-knifed all over the place and it was a scene that would scare anyone. Darin was a master at driving and the new tires that I insisted on before leaving were AWESOME!! We made it past Indiana and were on our way. Nebraska--just so you know--is a VERY long state to drive through. So is Wyoming.
All the kids loved swimming at the hotels we picked (to and from) and eating out. They really did SOOO great! Even Meg. who is the MOST confined by her car seat.
We had such a wonderful time with family! We had Christmas with my parents and Val's family. We had a big family party where our family got pictures and were all together. We spent time with cousins/aunts/uncles, cheered on our cougars to a victory, D took J and Log skiing for the first time and they had a blast, visited the lights at temple square--beautiful--with my brother and family, and just had a GREAT time.
We had to forgo ice skating, eating at the bluebird, and meeting up with old friends due to some sicknesses those days--bummer. But something to look forward to for next time.
We love our home here, but we sure do miss our family in UT! I seriously have THE BEST family EVER! :)
